This Week in Kindergarten!

Hello Families! We had another fantastic week in kindergarten, starting off with Rainbow Day! The children had a blast sorting various colours and participating in a fun rainbow experiment. We used Skittles and poured hot water over them, watching the colours melt and blend together. The kids did a wonderful job identifying the colours and patiently waiting for the transformation. Skittles Experiment This week also marked our first experience with paint! Each table worked on a group art project, painting different colours of the rainbow. The students enjoyed tearing up paper to add to our collaborative artwork, making it a true team effort. On Tuesday, we explored Indigenous learning and participated in a sharing circle. The children shared their favourite foods and expressed their feelings for the day. They did an amazing job practicing patience and listening while others spoke. Colouring the rainbow! On Wednesday, we recognized Orange Shirt Day by reading "Every Child Matters...

Hello families! We had an amazing second week of our Colour Days! The kids had a great time practicing their colour words and even came up with items that match each colour. It's so much fun to see how well they can spot things around them that fit the colours we’re learning about! This week, we also jumped into some soccer fun! The kids learned words like dribble , pass , and shoot . Our energetic coaches kept the excitement high, and it was wonderful to see the kids working together as a team. In our centers, the children explored different sensory items, which really sparked their curiosity and creativity. Watching them play and interact with friends is such a joy! We’re also focusing on sharing and taking turns, and they’re doing a great job of learning these important skills. We continued practicing our names, and the kids are getting really good at recognizing the letters that start their names. This is a big step in their literacy journey, and it’s exciting to see them take...

Hello Families, What an exciting and colorful first week we’ve had in kindergarten! Here’s a look at the highlights from our first week as we explored the colors red, orange, yellow, and green. Exploring the Gym: Our first week in the gym was a huge success! The children were thrilled to experience the larger space and all the new opportunities it offered. We began by discussing gym safety, ensuring everyone knew how to stay safe while having fun. Our animal walk was a highlight, where the kids pretended to be different animals, mimicking their sounds and actions. They also enjoyed a game called Silly Banana, which quickly became a favorite. Library Adventure: On Monday, we visited the library and met our wonderful librarian, Mrs. Haydu. The children were amazed by the array of books and were excited to choose one to bring home. It was a great introduction to the library, and we look forward to many more visits in the future. Music Fun: Our music session with Ms. Mandin was another big...

Hello families! Wow, what an incredible start we’ve had to the kindergarten year! I’m thrilled to share a glimpse of what we’ve been up to during our first week together. We kicked off our adventure with a variety of centers designed to spark curiosity and creativity. From building with lego blocks to exploring sensory bins, each center was a chance for the children to engage in hands-on learning and discover new interests. It’s amazing to see how quickly they’re becoming comfortable in their new environment and excited about the activities! One of our first writing activities involved using whiteboards and stickers to practice writing our names. The children had a blast selecting stickers to decorate their names. It’s a fun way to develop fine motor skills and gain confidence in writing, all while having a lot of fun! We also spent some time making self-portraits. It was wonderful to see each child's unique take on what they look like. A key theme of our first week was making fri...
