A Vibrant Start to Colour Days in Kindergarten!
Hello Families,
What an exciting and colorful first week we’ve had in kindergarten! Here’s a look at the highlights from our first week as we explored the colors red, orange, yellow, and green.
Exploring the Gym:
Our first week in the gym was a huge success! The children were thrilled to experience the larger space and all the new opportunities it offered. We began by discussing gym safety, ensuring everyone knew how to stay safe while having fun. Our animal walk was a highlight, where the kids pretended to be different animals, mimicking their sounds and actions. They also enjoyed a game called Silly Banana, which quickly became a favorite.
Library Adventure:
On Monday, we visited the library and met our wonderful librarian, Mrs. Haydu. The children were amazed by the array of books and were excited to choose one to bring home. It was a great introduction to the library, and we look forward to many more visits in the future.
Music Fun:
Our music session with Ms. Mandin was another big hit. The children had a blast singing songs, playing instruments, and dancing. It was a joyful time that allowed them to express themselves and explore music in a lively, engaging way.
Colour Week:
Colour Week was full of colourful activities! Each day began with our afternoon meeting, where we sang our welcome song, reviewed our expectations, and got to know each other better. We discussed our favorite colours and animals, and played fun name games to help everyone learn each other's names.
Each day focused on a different colour. The children sang songs, listened to stories, and identified items associated with that day's colour. They amazed me with their ability to find and name so many things in our world that matched the colour of the day. We practiced printing colour words and created drawings that represented each colour. The fun continued as we mixed playdough colours to discover how combining different colours can create new ones!
A tasty highlight of Colour Week was our colorful food tasting! The children enjoyed sampling foods associated with each colour. We savored mandarins for orange, limes for green, and corn chips for yellow. It was a delicious and interactive way to reinforce our colour lessons and explore how colours appear in the foods we eat.
During center time, the kids continued to bond, playing and interacting with each other while exploring different activities.
It was wonderful to see the children’s colorful outfits and snacks each day, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of our week. We had so much fun, and the excitement and enthusiasm of our students made it all the more special.
Thank you for your continued support and for sharing in the excitement of our classroom adventures. Stay tuned for more updates on our Colour Days and all the fun and learning that lies ahead!
