Valentines week and assembly week!

Hello Families! Last week was such a blast! We had so many fun and meaningful activities that engaged our kinders in learning and creativity. We kicked off Monday with science, exploring the sense of touch. The kinders investigated balloons filled with different objects—some were soft, hard, bumpy, or smooth. They took turns feeling each one and making guesses about what was inside. The excitement was contagious when we finally opened the balloons to reveal their hidden surprises!
On Tuesday, we had a heartfelt discussion about love. We read the book Love Is and shared our thoughts on what love means to each of us. The kinders then expressed their ideas through drawings and sentences, showcasing some truly thoughtful and creative responses. It was wonderful to see their different perspectives on love!
Wednesday was all about Valentine’s Day fun! We started the day by decorating bags for our valentines, ensuring they were ready to collect sweet notes from their friends. Then, we created "I Love You to Pieces" artwork, where the kinders used colorful paper pieces to form beautiful heart collages. Later, they enjoyed decorating cookies with icing—a delicious and creative activity! We wrapped up the day with gymnastics, which, as always, was an absolute blast!

This week we kicked off Tuesday with some independent reading, where the kinders chose books and explored the pictures on their own. Then, we learned all about the triangle shape! To reinforce this concept, we went on a mini shape scavenger hunt around the classroom, searching for objects shaped like circles, squares, and triangles. The kinders had so much fun spotting different shapes in their environment! Later in the day, we attended a special opera assembly, featuring a fun 40-minute show about a squirrel and a king. Our kindergarteners were the loudest in the gym, laughing and enjoying every moment of the performance! On Wednesday, we continued our learning about triangles before heading to a very exciting Calgary Flames Reading Assembly! The kinders had the chance to meet Harvey the Hound, along with two Calgary Flames players! We also had police officers visiting, handing out books and cards. The gym was filled with laughter and cheers—it was such a memorable experience! We wrapped up the day with centers and explore time, giving the children a chance to play, create, and collaborate.
On Thursday, we started the day by drawing houses, incorporating the shapes we've been learning. Then, we worked on the letter Gg, practicing how to recognize and write it. It was an exciting and love-filled two weeks, and we can't wait for more fun and learning ahead!
Looking forward to another great week! 😊
