Kindness Week in Kindergarten!
Hello families!
This week was filled with exciting learning experiences and hands-on activities!
Monday: We kicked off the week by introducing the letter Bb! The kids had fun brainstorming words that start with B, such as banana, balloon, and butterfly. We practiced writing the uppercase and lowercase Bb and played a sorting game to differentiate between words that start with B and words that do not.
Tuesday: We continued exploring shapes and went on a classroom scavenger hunt! The kids worked in pairs to find and identify different shapes around the room, such as squares on books, circles on clocks, and triangles in decorations. Afterward, we discussed where we see these shapes in the real world.
Wednesday: We had a meaningful discussion about Pink Shirt Day, talking about kindness, respect, and standing up for others. The kids designed their own pink shirts with positive messages and pictures that represent kindness. We also attended a wonderful friendship assembly presented by the Grade 1 and 2 students, where we sang songs and listened to stories about being a good friend.
Thursday: In science, we explored our sense of smell with a fun guessing game! The kids took turns smelling different mystery items—pickles, vinegar, lemon, and oranges—and tried to guess what they were. Many of them were surprised by the strong scents! We also practiced reading our SATPIN letters, focusing on blending and sounding out simple words that begin with B, such as bat, bed, and bus.
Looking forward to a full week next week! Enjoy the warm weather :)
I am looking into going on community walks in the near future and will need volunteers. In order to volunteer you must have a police clearance sent to the school. Please let me know if you would be interested. We will be having at least one community walk a month as the weather continues to get nicer.
Cheers,
Ms.Infante
