The letter A!

Image
Hello families! This week, we dove right into learning the letter A! We discussed the sound the letter A makes and explored words that start with A. The kids practiced printing the letter A and drew pictures of things that begin with it. In math, we sorted objects by shape and size, which was a fun group activity for the kids as they worked together to organize various items. We also did some journaling and read the story Stumpkin. The story is about a pumpkin without a stump, who felt left out as other pumpkins with stumps—and even a gourd with a stump—were picked first. We talked about how the pumpkin might have felt, and the kids said he might be angry, sad, or upset. But eventually, the pumpkin finds a home and becomes a jack-o-lantern—it just took a little more time. We also painted trees this week using fall colors. The kids loved using Q-tips to make leaves on their bare trees! Additionally, we are continuing our discussions on kindness and making friends in the classroom...

The Letter S

Hello Families! We had another wonderful week in kindergarten! This week, our focus was on the letter "S." We practiced the sound it makes and explored different objects that begin with the letter. Interestingly, we have three friends in our class whose names start with "S"! The highlight of the week was singing the song "Sophie the Snake." We even helped Sophie the Snake find the letter "S" in a fun word search. Everyone did an excellent job spotting it! In math, we worked on sorting colors into different groups. The students collaborated at their tables to sort the colors, and I was so impressed with how well they shared and worked together. We also read "The Leaf Thief," a funny and engaging book that the kids loved. Afterward, they retold the story by drawing pictures of what happened, showing great creativity and comprehension. As the cold weather starts approaching we tried to go outside this week to spend some more goo...

Busy Week In Kindergarten!

Hello families! What a busy week we’ve had in kindergarten! We kicked off the week with our Terry Fox Run. The students had a fantastic time running laps, and it was wonderful to see them interact with the entire school. On Tuesday, we focused on pre-printing skills by learning to trace lines. The kids created colorful pizza slices using those lines, and they had fun experimenting with permanent markers for the first time! Picture Day was also a highlight! The children practiced their best smiles while waiting for their turn. On Wednesday, we discussed the beauty of fall and how leaves change color as the weather cools. The kids enjoyed cutting out and coloring leaves in various autumn hues. Hello Families! Thursday was all about creativity and fine motor skills. The children gave a character some wild hair, and we introduced watercolors for the first time, which they used to enhance their line art. This was a wonderful opportunity for them to relax and practice mindfulness. ...

A Short But Fun Filled Week In Kindergarten!

Hello families! This week in kindergarten, we began by learning about fire drill safety. The children listened intently to the instructions and the procedures we follow during a fire drill. We also did some pre-printing activities where they got to trace and draw all sorts of different lines. On Wednesday, Mr. Gregory was our substitute teacher, and he did an amazing job with the kids! They worked on family portraits and shared who is in their families. It was wonderful for the children to appreciate the uniqueness of each family and what they can be made up of. On Thursday, we talked about Terry Fox and discussed why he is considered a hero to so many people. The children were inspired by his story and amazed to learn about someone like him. We had our last soccer day on Tuesday and the kids had a blast learning from our wonderful coaches! We hope to use these soccer skills during our gym time. Speaking of gym, we learned a new game called "Don't Throw Your Stuff In My Bac...
