Busy Week In Kindergarten!
Hello families!
What a busy week we’ve had in kindergarten!
We kicked off the week with our Terry Fox Run. The students had a fantastic time running laps, and it was wonderful to see them interact with the entire school. On Tuesday, we focused on pre-printing skills by learning to trace lines. The kids created colorful pizza slices using those lines, and they had fun experimenting with permanent markers for the first time!
Picture Day was also a highlight! The children practiced their best smiles while waiting for their turn. On Wednesday, we discussed the beauty of fall and how leaves change color as the weather cools. The kids enjoyed cutting out and coloring leaves in various autumn hues.
Hello Families!
Thursday was all about creativity and fine motor skills. The children gave a character some wild hair, and we introduced watercolors for the first time, which they used to enhance their line art. This was a wonderful opportunity for them to relax and practice mindfulness.
We’ve also been taking advantage of the beautiful weather by playing outside on the playground. It's heartwarming to see the children developing their social skills and inviting each other to play.
On Friday, we read the silly story, “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves.” The kids loved it and drew pictures in their journals about what the old lady consumed. We also took some time to discuss gratitude, with many children expressing thankfulness for their families, homes, food, pets, and toys. I feel so grateful to have such wonderful students in our classroom.
Additionally, we practiced following directions by coloring a turkey by number!
As we embrace the fall season, if anyone would like to donate a pumpkin for our classroom activities, it would be greatly appreciated!
