The Letter S

Hello Families! We had another wonderful week in kindergarten! This week, our focus was on the letter "S." We practiced the sound it makes and explored different objects that begin with the letter. Interestingly, we have three friends in our class whose names start with "S"!
The highlight of the week was singing the song "Sophie the Snake." We even helped Sophie the Snake find the letter "S" in a fun word search. Everyone did an excellent job spotting it! In math, we worked on sorting colors into different groups. The students collaborated at their tables to sort the colors, and I was so impressed with how well they shared and worked together. We also read "The Leaf Thief," a funny and engaging book that the kids loved. Afterward, they retold the story by drawing pictures of what happened, showing great creativity and comprehension.
As the cold weather starts approaching we tried to go outside this week to spend some more good days on the playground before it gets even colder! I have sent out a google classroom invite. Five senses in kindergarten

This Week in Kindergarten... On Monday, we started the week by introducing our letter of the week—U! We also had a lesson on our five senses, where the kids learned how important they are. We discovered that we use our senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste every day to explore the world around us. In math, we learned a new game called Tug of War, which was a huge hit! The kids had so much fun playing with a partner and are getting really good at recognizing numbers on a die quickly. In gym, we began our gymnastics unit, practicing different balances such as one-point balance, two- and three-point balance, V-sit balance, and bridge balance. Valentines week and assembly week!

Hello Families! Last week was such a blast! We had so many fun and meaningful activities that engaged our kinders in learning and creativity. We kicked off Monday with science, exploring the sense of touch. The kinders investigated balloons filled with different objects—some were soft, hard, bumpy, or smooth. They took turns feeling each one and making guesses about what was inside. The excitement was contagious when we finally opened the balloons to reveal their hidden surprises! On Tuesday, we had a heartfelt discussion about love. We read the book Love Is and shared our thoughts on what love means to each of us. The kinders then expressed their ideas through drawings and sentences, showcasing some truly thoughtful and creative responses. It was wonderful to see their different perspectives on love! Kindness Week in Kindergarten!

Hello families! This week was filled with exciting learning experiences and hands-on activities! Monday: We kicked off the week by introducing the letter Bb! The kids had fun brainstorming words that start with B, such as banana, balloon, and butterfly. We practiced writing the uppercase and lowercase Bb and played a sorting game to differentiate between words that start with B and words that do not. Tuesday: We continued exploring shapes and went on a classroom scavenger hunt! The kids worked in pairs to find and identify different shapes around the room, such as squares on books, circles on clocks, and triangles in decorations. Afterward, we discussed where we see these shapes in the real world. Wednesday: We had a meaningful discussion about Pink Shirt Day, talking about kindness, respect, and standing up for others.
