Spirit Week!

Hello Families! We had a super fun-filled week! We kicked off the week with Red and Green Day! The children played a dice game where they identified numbers, practiced subitizing (recognizing numbers 1-6 without counting), and took turns rolling the dice. They also counted from 1 to 20 and practiced counting backward from 10 to 1. Our classroom elf, TwinkleToes, visited us again and was spotted hanging in the lights! On Tuesday, we celebrated Jersey Day! I loved seeing all the jerseys, especially the Calgary Flames ones! We painted our snow globes and took some fun pictures, too. Wednesday was Crazy Hair Day and Holiday Hat Day! I loved seeing all the Santa hats and colorful hair in pink and blue. That day, we read The Mitten. We discussed sequencing by using the words first, next, then, and last. The story is about a boy who lost his mitten, and all these animals squeezed inside—even a bear! The kids couldn’t believe it! We talked about how they might feel if they lost someth...

Hello Families! We had a fun and eventful week in our classroom! Here’s a quick recap of what we’ve been up to: Monday: We kicked off the week by learning about the letter M. The children also created their December self-portraits, which turned out beautifully! Tuesday: We continued exploring the letter M, and the kids got creative drawing pictures of things that start with the letter M. There were lots of monkeys, mountains, and even a few mice! We also learned a new game in gym called fruit salad! It was quite the challenge learning this game but by the end of the week they got it! Wednesday: We wrapped up our Patterns Unit and completed our Pattern Books! The kids learned all about AB, ABB, and ABC patterns—such great progress! Thursday: We had so much fun doing pattern art and making patterned lights for our classroom. Using paint and their thumbs, the kids created bright and colorful light patterns—so much creativity in one project! We also had a very special guest j...

Hello families! This week, we started Monday by learning about ABB patterns. We played a fun game on the SMARTboard that taught the kids different ways to create patterns and tested their knowledge of what they’ve learned so far. The kids also had the opportunity to do a guided drawing of a fish. They always enjoy these activities, and I’m consistently impressed by how well they follow directions! On Tuesday, we read the story There Was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow. We talked about sequencing, focusing on what happens first, next, and last. Later, we had a fire drill, and the kids did a fantastic job lining up quickly and staying quiet during the drill. We also read a book about how to wash our hands properly. On Wednesday, we introduced the letter F. In our alphabet soup, we included a firefighter, a fan, a fork, a frog, and a fish. During printing time, we practiced writing the letter F, taking our time to ensure careful and neat work. We also added a few exciting new ...
