Hello families!
This week, we started Monday by learning about ABB patterns. We played a fun game on the SMARTboard that taught the kids different ways to create patterns and tested their knowledge of what they’ve learned so far. The kids also had the opportunity to do a guided drawing of a fish. They always enjoy these activities, and I’m consistently impressed by how well they follow directions!
On Tuesday, we read the story There Was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow. We talked about sequencing, focusing on what happens first, next, and last. Later, we had a fire drill, and the kids did a fantastic job lining up quickly and staying quiet during the drill. We also read a book about how to wash our hands properly.
On Wednesday, we introduced the letter F. In our alphabet soup, we included a firefighter, a fan, a fork, a frog, and a fish. During printing time, we practiced writing the letter F, taking our time to ensure careful and neat work. We also added a few exciting new options to center time, including painting trees, a pattern station, and some fun holiday-themed activities.
On Thursday, we continued exploring the letter F. We talked about objects that start with F and then drew pictures of at least three items beginning with the letter F. We spent lots of time playing outside this week, I can't believe it's December already!

Five senses in kindergarten
This Week in Kindergarten... On Monday, we started the week by introducing our letter of the week—U! We also had a lesson on our five senses, where the kids learned how important they are. We discovered that we use our senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste every day to explore the world around us. In math, we learned a new game called Tug of War, which was a huge hit! The kids had so much fun playing with a partner and are getting really good at recognizing numbers on a die quickly. In gym, we began our gymnastics unit, practicing different balances such as one-point balance, two- and three-point balance, V-sit balance, and bridge balance. We also learned some fun jumps, including pike jumps, star jumps, tuck jumps, and half-turn jumps. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we had a guest teacher, and the class practiced writing uppercase and lowercase U. On Thursday, we talked about sharing circles and how important it is to listen to and respect one another. We read the story ...
