Spirit Week!
Hello Families!
We had a super fun-filled week!
We kicked off the week with Red and Green Day! The children played a dice game where they identified numbers, practiced subitizing (recognizing numbers 1-6 without counting), and took turns rolling the dice. They also counted from 1 to 20 and practiced counting backward from 10 to 1.
Our classroom elf, TwinkleToes, visited us again and was spotted hanging in the lights!
On Tuesday, we celebrated Jersey Day! I loved seeing all the jerseys, especially the Calgary Flames ones! We painted our snow globes and took some fun pictures, too.
Wednesday was Crazy Hair Day and Holiday Hat Day! I loved seeing all the Santa hats and colorful hair in pink and blue. That day, we read The Mitten. We discussed sequencing by using the words first, next, then, and last. The story is about a boy who lost his mitten, and all these animals squeezed inside—even a bear! The kids couldn’t believe it! We talked about how they might feel if they lost something and made personal connections. Then, the children put the animals in order themselves—they did an amazing job! TwinkleToes joined us in the music room on Wednesday and had fun watching the kids sing and dance.
Thursday was Pajama Day! We made our own version of The Mitten. The children imagined what they would put in their mitten, and we put together a class book. TwinkleToes was hiding in the classroom again and left the children another letter! We also had buddies! This was our first time meeting our grade 3 buddies. The grade 3 buddies read a book to out kinders and then they did a cololur by number together. They had such a blast!
Finally, Friday was packed with fun.
We started with free drawing at our tables before moving to our morning meeting. We reviewed our rules, read a holiday story, and discussed the day ahead. TwinkleToes was hiding in our plant and left a sweet letter, saying how much he’ll miss the kiddos and wishing them a fantastic winter break.
Later, we had a special activity—a “snowball fight”! The children wrote their names on pieces of paper, crumpled them up, and threw them around. Then, they picked up a snowball, read the name on it, and greeted that person. We repeated this a few times, and it was such a hit!
To wrap up the day, TwinkleToes left us a treat, which we enjoyed while watching a holiday show. Afterward, the children went to their clubs, and we finished the week by getting ready for home time.
Have a WONDERFUL winter break! I will miss you all so much! ❤️ See you on January 6th!
Best,
Ms.Infante
