Exploring Emotions and Letters: A Fun-Filled Week in Kindergarten

Image
Hello Kinder Families! We had another fun and busy week in kindergarten! This week, we began by learning about the feeling angry. We read the book "When I Am Feeling Angry" and discussed what might make us feel angry. We talked about how it’s okay to feel angry, as long as we don’t hurt ourselves or others. The class shared some thoughtful ideas about different ways to calm down when we feel this way—like taking deep breaths, counting to 10, or asking for help. On Tuesday, we practiced writing the letter C! We explored what sound it makes and thought of words that begin with this letter. The children were excited to share words like cat, cake, and car. Wednesday was all about creativity and math! We worked on our January self-portraits and compared them to the ones we made earlier in the year—it’s amazing to see how much everyone has grown in their drawing skills! Adventures in Kindergarten: Learning Letters, Shapes, and More!

Hello families, On Monday, we started the week by learning how to write the letter D and the sound it makes. Then, we learned a math game using dice! Each student was paired up, and they took turns rolling a die and identifying the number right away. This activity helped teach subitizing and teamwork. On Tuesday, we began the day by making playdough shapes! Later, we learned all about shapes and went on a "shape walk" to find different shapes in our classroom environment. In gym, we are learning how to pass a ball. We started underhand throwing today! On Wednesday, we focused on the shape circle and discussed its sides and vertices. We also explored real-life examples of shapes in our surroundings. The students then illustrated what they learned in their visual journals. On Thursday, we reviewed our sounds S, A, T, P, I, N. The children did a fantastic job sounding out the letters and blending them into words! On Friday, we started the day with a color-by-numbe...

Hello Families, I hope you all had a restful and joyful winter break! I’m excited to be back with the kids and can’t wait to continue our learning journey. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to this week: Monday: We started the day by coloring a “2025” sheet and talking about the new year. Afterward, we reviewed our classroom expectations and rules, and I was so proud of how well the kids remembered and followed them! We also did a quick review of patterns to refresh our knowledge. Tuesday: Our focus was on time and why it’s important. We talked about what we did before school and what we planned to do after school. The children practiced using sequencing words like “next,” “then,” and “last” and discussed why it’s helpful to know what comes next. Wednesday: We began the day exploring different building blocks and then transitioned to carpet time. Our letter of the week is O! During Alphabet Soup, we discovered an ocotopus, an ostrich, an oven and so much more! The kids w...
