Adventures in Kindergarten: Learning Letters, Shapes, and More!

Hello families, On Monday, we started the week by learning how to write the letter D and the sound it makes. Then, we learned a math game using dice! Each student was paired up, and they took turns rolling a die and identifying the number right away. This activity helped teach subitizing and teamwork.
On Tuesday, we began the day by making playdough shapes! Later, we learned all about shapes and went on a "shape walk" to find different shapes in our classroom environment. In gym, we are learning how to pass a ball. We started underhand throwing today!
On Wednesday, we focused on the shape circle and discussed its sides and vertices. We also explored real-life examples of shapes in our surroundings. The students then illustrated what they learned in their visual journals.
On Thursday, we reviewed our sounds S, A, T, P, I, N. The children did a fantastic job sounding out the letters and blending them into words!
On Friday, we started the day with a color-by-number activity. The kids are doing so well at recognizing numbers and following instructions! Later, we reviewed the letters S, A, T, P, I, N and introduced the letter Dd. The students drew pictures of objects that start with the letter D and participated in a circle activity where they named words beginning with D. Afterward, we enjoyed some center time and participated in our clubs!
I’m looking forward to next week! Reminder: There will be no PM kindergarten next Friday. Cheers, Ms. Infante
