A Fun-Filled First Week in Kindergarten

 Hello families!

Wow, what an incredible start we’ve had to the kindergarten year! I’m thrilled to share a glimpse of what we’ve been up to during our first week together.

We kicked off our adventure with a variety of centers designed to spark curiosity and creativity. From building with lego blocks to exploring sensory bins, each center was a chance for the children to engage in hands-on learning and discover new interests. It’s amazing to see how quickly they’re becoming comfortable in their new environment and excited about the activities!

One of our first writing activities involved using whiteboards and stickers to practice writing our names. The children had a blast selecting stickers to decorate their names. It’s a fun way to develop fine motor skills and gain confidence in writing, all while having a lot of fun! We also spent some time making self-portraits. It was wonderful to see each child's unique take on what they look like.


A key theme of our first week was making friends and learning about what it means to be a good friend. We had conversations about kindness, sharing, and how to include others in play. The children practiced these concepts through group activities and playing outside.

Five senses in kindergarten

This Week in Kindergarten... On Monday, we started the week by introducing our letter of the week—U! We also had a lesson on our five senses, where the kids learned how important they are. We discovered that we use our senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste every day to explore the world around us. In math, we learned a new game called Tug of War, which was a huge hit! The kids had so much fun playing with a partner and are getting really good at recognizing numbers on a die quickly. Valentines week and assembly week!

Hello Families! Last week was such a blast! We had so many fun and meaningful activities that engaged our kinders in learning and creativity. We kicked off Monday with science, exploring the sense of touch. The kinders investigated balloons filled with different objects—some were soft, hard, bumpy, or smooth. They took turns feeling each one and making guesses about what was inside. The excitement was contagious when we finally opened the balloons to reveal their hidden surprises! On Tuesday, we had a heartfelt discussion about love. We read the book Love Is and shared our thoughts on what love means to each of us. The kinders then expressed their ideas through drawings and sentences, showcasing some truly thoughtful and creative responses. It was wonderful to see their different perspectives on love! Kindness Week in Kindergarten!

Hello families! This week was filled with exciting learning experiences and hands-on activities! Monday: We kicked off the week by introducing the letter Bb! The kids had fun brainstorming words that start with B, such as banana, balloon, and butterfly. We practiced writing the uppercase and lowercase Bb and played a sorting game to differentiate between words that start with B and words that do not. Tuesday: We continued exploring shapes and went on a classroom scavenger hunt! The kids worked in pairs to find and identify different shapes around the room, such as squares on books, circles on clocks, and triangles in decorations. Afterward, we discussed where we see these shapes in the real world. Wednesday: We had a meaningful discussion about Pink Shirt Day, talking about kindness, respect, and standing up for others.
