A Week of Learning, Creativity, and Fun in Kindergarten!

Hello Families! This week was full of creativity, learning, and fun! Monday We started the day by drawing our February self-portraits. It’s always amazing to see how much the children’s drawings change and improve each month! After that, we read When I Am Feeling Loved and discussed what makes us feel loved. The students shared heartwarming stories and wrote about their ideas in their journals. For math, we played a fun number recognition game using a bean bag toss—students took turns tossing a bean bag onto a large sheet of paper with numbers and then practiced writing and representing the number with drawings on their whiteboards.
Tuesday We had a pizza party! We read Pete the Cat and the Perfect Pizza Party, then created our own pizzas using different shapes. Students had the chance to be creative with their toppings while counting the circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles on their pizzas. We also worked on letter sounds and blending CVC words, helping to build early reading skills.
Wednesday We focused on the letter E! Students practiced writing it on their whiteboards and took turns coming up to the smartboard to demonstrate writing the letter for the class. It was great to see them so engaged and proud of their work!
Thursday We explored our sense of hearing by listening to different farm animal sounds and guessing which animals made them. Students drew their guesses before we revealed the answers. Later, we read The Hat by Jan Brett and talked about the beginning, middle, and end of the story. We also discussed how the hedgehog felt when the other animals laughed at him, encouraging empathy.
Friday We started the morning with puzzles, challenging students to solve different types. Then we had an exciting art day with multiple stations! - Bubble Art – Blowing bubbles into a plate and catching them on paper. - Smush Art – Adding paint to paper, folding it, and seeing the colorful designs. - Shamrock Craft – Coloring, cutting, and gluing shamrocks all on their own!
To wrap up the week, we finished learning about letter E, had centre time, and enjoyed some outdoor play in the sunshine.
It was a fantastic week of learning and fun! 🌟 Cheers, Ms.Infante
