Celebrating Earth Day and Building Our Community!

On Tuesday, we started the week by learning all the different ways we can represent the number 3. We used objects, drawings, and numbers to show our understanding. We also had our Earth Day assembly done by the grade 3s and 4s! The students were excited to learn about ways we can take care of our planet.
On Wednesday, I was away, but the class had a wonderful day with a lovely substitute teacher, Ms. Sinclair. They learned how to write the letter Ww and practiced forming it correctly. Ms. Sinclair said they were a fantastic group and worked really hard!
On Thursday, we talked about what a community is and what kinds of places and people we see in communities. We discussed how each of us is an important part of our own community. The students completed a fun worksheet all about themselves, highlighting their interests and what makes them special. Later, we had a thoughtful conversation about Earth Day and brainstormed ways we can protect our Earth — the students shared many fantastic ideas! We finished the day by heading outside to pick up garbage around our school to help keep our environment clean. They did such a great job and showed a lot of pride in helping our Earth!
On Friday, we drew pictures of things that start with the letter Ww and had a great discussion about words that begin with Ww. We also had some fun playdough time, where we built objects that start with Ww. Later, we spent time at our centers and enjoyed some fresh air outside. We continued learning about communities by playing a guessing game where we named and described different things we might find in a community. The students had lots of creative ideas! This Week in Kindergarten... On Monday, we started the week by introducing our letter of the week—U! We also had a lesson on our five senses, where the kids learned how important they are. We discovered that we use our senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste every day to explore the world around us. In math, we learned a new game called Tug of War, which was a huge hit! Valentines week and assembly week!

Hello Families! Last week was such a blast! We had so many fun and meaningful activities that engaged our kinders in learning and creativity. We kicked off Monday with science, exploring the sense of touch. The kinders investigated balloons filled with different objects—some were soft, hard, bumpy, or smooth. They took turns feeling each one and making guesses about what was inside. The excitement was contagious when we finally opened the balloons to reveal their hidden surprises! On Tuesday, we had a heartfelt discussion about love. We read the book Love Is and shared our thoughts on what love means to each of us. The kinders then expressed their ideas through drawings and sentences, showcasing some truly thoughtful and creative responses. It was wonderful to see their different perspectives on love! Kindness Week in Kindergarten!

Hello families! This week was filled with exciting learning experiences and hands-on activities! Monday: We kicked off the week by introducing the letter Bb! The kids had fun brainstorming words that start with B, such as banana, balloon, and butterfly. We practiced writing the uppercase and lowercase Bb and played a sorting game to differentiate between words that start with B and words that do not. Tuesday: We continued exploring shapes and went on a classroom scavenger hunt! The kids worked in pairs to find and identify different shapes around the room, such as squares on books, circles on clocks, and triangles in decorations. Afterward, we discussed where we see these shapes in the real world. Wednesday: We had a meaningful discussion about Pink Shirt Day, talking about kindness, respect, and standing up for others.
